I am looking to gauge interest in wide five adapters. I have sold about 50 sets of them world wide. The last batch took over a year to sell. I'm totally out of stock now and checking to see if it is worthwhile to make more. The cost of materials has increased due to tariffs and aluminum companies jacking the price. I would like to make these available again but it also has to be economicly viable. You can answer here and if you are wanting to buy send me a PM. thanks.

Bumping this for the morning crowd. I have been out of stock for about 6 months and have only had about 3 requests for them.

These are the adapters that I have had produced before. One set has 5x5" and 5x5-1/2" lug pattern and the other has 5x4-1/2" and 5x4-3/4" lug pattern. The studs are countersunk on the back side so that you won't have brake drum interference. They are made from 6061-T6 aluminum precision plate.

One thing to note is that if you are converting early Ford 5x5-1/2" to wide five it will move the wheels out about 1-1/2" per side. So if you are running stock 40 style brakes it is recommended that you find a good set of wide five drums to do this conversion. These are mostly used for converting the modern rear end to accept the wide five.

Could it be true that I have supplied the world with wide five adapters and there is now no need for any more?

  7. I have some interest in wide 5 adapters. Still working details.

Do you know of any Lincoln Zephyr Bendix brakes that are self adjusting & will they work on my 39? Thought I saw some and now I can Not find them.

    Thanks

MT products sells them, They are owned by Bowling Brothers. Just make sure you get the one's with the 1-3/4" shoes if you are using the stock wide five drums.

I was thinking about running the wide five rims, but parts availability and cost kinda turned me off, especially for the hubs which seem almost impossible to find. Still not sure how these adapters fit into the equation.

  10. Will one of these adapters work for balancing wide 5 wheels on a modern spin balancer.

The wide five hubs are out there 37-39 front and 36-39 rear. They are a bit hard to find but are on eBay all the time. 12.060 is max for turning them. The wide five adapters when paired with the 40-48 style front drums and hubs will push the wheels out about 1-1/2" per side. This will affect the scrub radius and handling a bit. I'm working on a disc brake kit for the early Ford front wide five or 5x5-1/2" bolt pattern that will work with stock wheels.

Will they work with widened 5 wide wheels? Wheel smith will widen wheels for modern tires (6-8”), and will they work on GM disc brakes, a Speedway kit?
