I have a 1941 248 with the dual carb setup, has anybody here modified the stock babbited rods and machined them to the specs of the later 49/50 rods? if so do you have part numbers for the rod inserts?
Just saved a dual carb intake and manifold assembly off a '41 from the crusher this week........carbs intact too..........needs complete rebuild and detailing and is made of the heavy stuff (iron) but it will be for sale if there is interest out there. Looks cool and with duals and a cam the idle is deep and throaty......I remember the sound from a car built in the 60's........great noise.
Since no one has answered this, I thought I'd pop in with what I know. From what I hear, one of these cars is an original, and one is a re-construction. Word has it that the original car killed 2 (some say 3) drivers over the years. If you took a close look at them, I'll bet you can see why they are so dangerous. That's a lot of power for model "T" frames and water pipe roll bars. Back in those days, their balls were REAL BIG.
