Like so many here I'm using an F1 steering box which has a splined steering shaft. Which means the steering wheel goes on any way you like. The stock '40 Ford steering wheels have a keyway. Does anyone make a reproduction 1940 Ford steering wheel with the later splined mount? Thanks Ed Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hey Ed Vintique Inc make a 15" 1940 steering wheel with the splined shaft...that's all i know of. Sent from my SM-J320ZN using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Limeworks make a 16" 1940 Ford steering wheel which suits a GM splined shaft. Don't know if there is any difference between the GM and Ford splines. AFAIK their wheels suit either early Ford keyed shafts or GM splined shafts.
I bought the Lime-works wheel and a splined adaptor from Grant to fit the F1/F100 splines. The wheel fit the Grant adaptor perfectly--everything mated up. I used a '40-'46 truck steering tube & Bell to finish off the project.
I took my wheel and shaft to a machine shop. They welded the old keyed hole and matched the splines on the F1 shaft. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Not sure if this one is splined. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-1940-Ford-15-Inch-Steering-Wheel,25106.html
I spoke to Steve at Limeworks today. He's making me one to fit the F1 column. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
