I've looked all over the internet and can't seem to find any history or info for that matter on the Tilt Ray headlamps. Can anyone share any info? The lenses are 9 3/4" across, the lenses are flat faced, the depth is 7", the cross bar is heavy cast iron with stout mounting points for the lights. Here are a few pics for you to ponder; I was told these may have been used on large luxury cars from the late 20's-early 30's. Enlighten me please! BloodyKnuckles
http://www.adattic.com/index.html?target=p_2426.html&lang=en-us looks like they were an aftermarket headlamp manufacturer
Def. not Duesenburg. Dammit. Now I'm drooling. I can't say "Duesenberg" without drooling. Anyway, Duesy headlights are huge. Really huge. And pretty. Really pretty. And $$. Really $$. Ok I'm retarded, I'll stop.
Thanks alot gents. Duesenburg, Duesenburg, Duesenburg, Duesenburg, Duesenburg!! Just fucking with you dreddybear. BloodyKnuckles
Tilt-Ray may NOT be the brand of the headlamps but rather the brand of the lenses. Tilt-Ray made replacement lenses for virtually all cars in early days of automobiles. I have had branded "Tilt-Ray" taillamp assemblies which were replacement lamps rather than factory stock pieces so I would guess they also made headlamps although I have never seen any. Those headlamps are obviously from a heavy car OR early over the road truck. The massive bracketry and bar indicate that. Since the bar abd headlamp brackets are painted rather than nickled or chromed I would lean more toward a commercial truck application.
I thought commercial truck also. If you look closely at the side of the housing you'll see a hole. I believe there was a key or lever that would fit in the hole and tilt the reflector inside the housing. I will dismantle one to see if that would be true. Thanks, BloodyKnuckles
Anyone notice that "Guide" is in the bottom of the lens? "Tilt Ray" is probably a model of headlight MADE by guide.. Just a guess.. Shawn
guide made lighting and other items for GM from way back when until the mid 60's. not to sure if they made things for others, but definitley GM.
lots of chevy lenses said twilight look up tilt ray on ebay and see what fires up there are also people that sell just lenses. They may be able to point you in the right direction. I thouhgt you said they were in good shape? damn it man. ha ha - Just fucking with you for saying Duesenburg
I can tell you what they came off.but I need the number which is along the edge of the lense. You must pull the lenses out to see the number. Tiltray was a OEM supplier.
VAPHEAD, The numbers are from top left to top right; 222399 GL-191 ...2 10 dia. designed for MAZDA LAMP NO.1110. I.G.C. It doesn't appear that the reflector moves. Thanks for helping, BloodyKnuckles
I have a TiltRay also with this # I.G.C. 915986. It also says Pat Pending. Can you help me with the type vehicle?
If yours are the same 8 inch diameter as mine I.G.C 915 986 Then the applications are: 1934 Chevrolet Master Deluxe and 1/2 Ton Commercial 1935 Chevrolet Master Deluxe
These headlights are exactly what I have on my 31 Buick 60 series. The crossbar configuration where it attaches to the fender, and to the light itself are identical. After days of searching for the light sockets and connectors for them, these are the only ones I have seen on line.
