    Have a '55 235 and three speed that will be going in my 39 Chevy truck and a '66 250 and auto for my '51 Belair.

  2. Over the years I've run lots of 230/250 Chevy inlines in all kinds of old cars & trucks. Those things are almost bulletproof, very economical and super reliable.Seems there's lots more interest in runnin' the inlines now-a-days; which i'm glad to see. No better sound around than split exhaust on an inline six!

    The plates on my Cameo are 6 POPPR. It has the original 235, bored .060, Clifford intake and headers with a Rochester 4GC carb and a reground cam. My 59 Belair has the stock 235 in it, at least until gas prices come down. :rolleyes:

  4. i'm an inliner (member of inliners international) and i love those motors, i had a 216 with dual 2s and headers in my chevy, but it just didn't cut it (too slow) and the 216 were notorious for lubracation issues, but i'm doing a sbc and auto in the car now and i'll use the good ol' six in another project down the line, but damn those motors are so cool!

    my lil chevy II may be the only one without a 350/350. sure, it may not leave much rubber behind, but it'll git outta its own way.

    My 56 F100 has the original 223 six (137,000 on the truck, 30,000 mi. on rebuilt engine). After a lot of going back and forth with myself about donor cars, engines etc. I decided to get a Clifford cam, Clifford dual outlet headers and a Clifford manifold with a Holley 4bbl...I can't wait.

    My '64 Ford Custom has a 223 under the hood. At present, I'm building a 2bbl. intake for a 500cfm Autolite 2100, a header, am going to have the cam reground and have a set of Barker rockers. This is a 'fun' buildup.When it blows , I'll build it a strong 300.

    My '70s vintage Gremlin bodied eastern modified that I race is powered by a 292 Chevy. Other than having a mild cam, an Offy intake with a 500 Holley and 6 individual tube headers,I know nothing about this motor. It sounds nasty and should pull well down the straightaways...:D I've got a 250 on the motor stand and a buddy with a bunch of Chevy 6 experience helping me build a stronger one.

    6 in a row ain't got to be slow! I love working with 6's enough that I'm selling my 460s, SBFs and my v8 stuff.

    '39 plymouth coupe - 230, Langdon headers, 2 Carter 1 bbls, duals with Smithys.

    Yanking a smokey '62 848 head 235 w/ fentons and pertronix ignition from "Snow Blind/Bevin". I'm selling it to a neighbor who's resurrecting a 50's centersteer a-body dirt tracker- that thing should ROCK!

  14. I got a stock Plymouth 218 in my 53 Ply right now, but Ill be putting a 218 bored .060 over with and Edmunds duel intake, stromberg 98s, fenton head, homemade dual exhaust, with a 38 dodge 3 speed and a 3:23 rear out of a 60s mopar.

    I was leaning real hard towards running one. Matter of fact, you chimed in on that thread :eek:

    I ended up dropping the idea because it never felt quite right for this project, but I've wondered ever since.

    The '55 chev wagon I recently sold had the stovebolt, which I purposely was looking for. I appreciate the simplicity of an inline (even though they tend to require more maitennance than a V8) My driver for now, to 'hold me over' is a slant powered van, which I thought I'd like to gain some experience on the venerable 'tower of power' since I never had one.before. Its not a classic, but its good to keep the arrow pointing up and learn one classic engine at a time whatever its pullin'. A model A/B 4-banger is next on my list of to- dos before I croak. These are the 'cream of the crop' of inliners to me.

  23. I've posted this once before, but here we go again. 230 Plymouth flattie;
    tube headers, duals, with cherry bombs = sweet sounding cruiser.

  24. I'm gonna be running the stock 235 in my '59 Sedan Delivery. But I'm gonna hop it up a little bit. Some Clifford headers, and I have an old Edelbrock Dual Duece intake as well.

  25. i took a 350 belly button engine out of my 36 chevy truck and replaced it with a stock 250 six just because it looks right. should have done it that way when i built it in 79. mike

  26. Here's the one in my '51 Plymouth;

    Running a 216 with one mod, a split header with straight pipes. Three on the tree with the torque tube. Its slow but its fun as hell to drive and sounds kick ass.

    This is a technically an AMC: a Nash 252 from 1955 with dual sidedraft carbs. It's coming out for a hot rod project as soon as I figure out what V8 to swap into my tub. For now it's my driver.
