Hi, I saw a pic of an early 60s custom with supremes and skinny whites. Besides the whites, it also had a pinner stripe on the outside of the whitewall in a different color. Can anyone tell me what these are? thanks Tim
Back in the 60's I worked at a local store in PA called American Auto. They sold Cordovan brand tires. We had some that had a groove outside the white wall and a tool to paint it the color chosen by the customer. Kind cool but we didn't sell them for very long. My guess is the paint didn't hold up. That was not information shared with the lowly stockboys. (Cars loaded up with a lot of bolt on acsessories were referred to as "American Auto Specials.")
Vogue tires are one of the oldest tire comany's from the USA and one, if not the first to offer whitewall tires. Tires are now painted whitewalls and goldlines. WTF?
