I called the local parts store today for a gasket kit for my 235. The guy asked me if I wanted the full copper head gasket or the composition gasket. I have no idea what the difference is other than physical make-up. Is one better than the other? Which one is right for my '54? I don't have any hop-up stuff going on with the engine, so wouldn't think it needs anytrhing special. Thanks for your help, this caught me totally off guard.
You want the Composition design, copper gaskets WILL leak coolant. What year engine do you have? The '50-52 use a different gasket than the '53-62's. Glenn
Sorry...I see it's a '54. FelPro #7619B is for the head gasket only. FelPro #FS7619B-3 is for a complete gasket set. Hopes this helps. Glenn
Thanks for the tip Glenn, it does help. Now if the parts place can get the stuff before the snow falls I'll be all set Thanks again, Jay
No problem Jay, I work for FelPro. If you are having issues getting parts or a good price, call Northern Auto Parts Warehouse @ 1-800-831-0884 and get a good price and great service. Tell them Glenn Hayes sent ya.
