  2. I'm with Beets. The Glass Slipper. I was 14 when it came to our little local drag strip (Agate Road) in White City Ore. (near Medford) I was at the finish line when it made it's pass, the guy who was driving it (Ed Cortopassi, I think) asked me if I wanted to ride back to the start in the Slipper. I couldn't believe it! Ever since then I've been a drag and custom car fanatic! What a thrill for a 14 year old.

Agree on SW&C, Garlits, Mooneyham, etc...would add Speed Sport roadster if no one else has.....not the first rear engined car, but usually ran straight as a string, and beat a lot of good cars.

I would have to say that the Logghe chassied floppers made a huge impression on me and had a tremendous impact on the sport.

Another big vote for the "Ramchargers". Never much of a Mopar fan but those hemi's in the early 60's were just it for me. Eating the 409's and 406's with an automatic no less! Nothing short of amazing for a teenager at that time.

Tony Water's fuel burning Desoto powered modified roadster. Actually ran faster than many dragsters of the time.

I dunno about others but Swamp Rat 14 represents the end of real dragsters for me.

The one that started it for me was an aluminum nosed Hemi Dodge 330 64 sedan factory race car. My cousin bought it new...I was there when he picked it up and it was love at first site. Now, 46 years later, the candle still burns.

The farmers Mystery Tornado did it for me. Blown 421 on fuel in a 64 goat.
