  2. I like the idea of contacting a school that teaches mechanics and see if they could finish it as a project. The labor would be free and you have nearly all the parts. But never say the hard part is already done because its not. Getting the drive train in it is the easy part. The tedious fine detail work thats left is the hard part. I am sorry for your situation and I hope you can find a way to keep it. Sentimental value is priceless.

Yeah I'd love to see it done this way as well.
Converting from a torque tube setup to a open drive line powertrain, and installing all new fuel and braking systems wasnt very easy, esp.. without a lift. But you are right and its very much true, the finishing work will be just as hard in its own way indeed.
I appreciate the kind words Thank you!

I don't want to get too far afield here, but is Pikeville the town with the old rope suspension bridge that has a wooden deck? The one I'm thinking of gets a pretty good wave going when you drive across it, but it was 1985 when I was down there last.

We had a couple of those, one is still open to foot traffic only, the others are history. I remember going across them with my folks when I was a teen.

Was this it? This is the only one still in use [foot traffic only now] that I know of around here.

That could be the one, if so we always got on it from the other side. It was a funny feeling going over it in a CJ5, and the faster you drove, the higher the wave it pushed out in front of you, i think the speed limit on it was like 10 mph. It had recently been rebuilt then.

There were several in the county like that. I remember riding in a pickup full of coal to take to my great grandfathers house. You couldn't see over the planks in front of you. Scary as hell.

Just asked 15K and be done with it. Don't go below you investment range. Sometimes it is better to lose a sell than to lose money. Sell at a lost when your back is against the wall.
