Hey guys, I'm looking for some help. I have a 54 Merc Montery. It has the original 15 x 5 1/2 rims. I'd like to put a later model steel rim on it and was wondering what would fit/work? All help is appreciated... John O
A '54 Merc has a 5.5" bolt circle on it? I have a hard time believing that. I think you need to remeasure. EDIT: did you mean 5.5 inches wide? That makes more sense, I'm a moron.
Yes 5.5 wide...i don't know the bolt patern. I was wondering if anyone has been successful with a late model wheel and tire that would fit the lug pattern, brake drum and rear fender clearance...
I have a '53 Ford (very similar car) it has a 5 on 4.5" pattern, should be the same for your Merc, although your car may have 5 on 5, you should measure that first. If you have a 4.5" pattern, look at rear wheel drive Mopar and Ford products of the 60's and 70's, they should have the same pattern and come in a 6 or 7 inch wide 15" size. If you have 5 on 5, check out 70's and 80's Cadillacs and 71-up Chevy pickups
If memory serves me, and it often doesn't, 54 merc had the same wheel size as 49-51 merc and is the same as Ford PU and van through the late 70's. They are 5 1/2" bolt circle.
