wheel centers?

Having just got through the pain of changing my 64 catalina to 5 lug from 8 lug, I fitted my astro's only to find that the shape of the drums stop me using the cones that the wheels came with. Both front and rear drums stick through the center of the wheel with no room to spare.

This is my first custom (all been race cars before) so I'm a bit lost.

I thought spider caps (iobviously never used them before) but couldnt quickly find 5x5's - and is that the answer anyway?

    Thanks for any ideas!!

    Nice paint & wheels.
Know a local machinist who can make you a set from aluminum and then polish them out?

    How thick are the cones?

If they are thin....maybe a machinist could turn down the axle and front hub bosses slightly on a lathe.

Well the fronts would almost disappear if you cleaned them up, painted them silver (or black) and got a nice chromed dust cap over the cotter pin.
The rears, I dunno. drawing a blank here, sorry.

Have you tried the hardware store for chain-link fencepost caps??

  7. how about some 1/8th inch spacers behind the rims? might give enough to slip caps on.

What '50 Burb said, & think about some convex "blind spot" truck mirrors for the rear ... Leggs panty hose chrome eggs used to work, too, tho I believe they're no longer made.
