The Ford Y block engine has the neatest system for routing plug wires.
You should check them out, maybe you could adapt the idea to your SBC.

  4. May as well show what i did on mine. I also put two P clips on the pan each side to hold the front wires tidy and out of harms way. JW

Interesting you should post this pic Larry. Just yesterday I was perusing these wire holders and I think I'll order a set.

  7. Wireless sender and receivers on 8 different frequencies needs to get invented so no wires are required.

Generally I think the wires look best when they are routed behind the heads and are below the exhaust and turn upward at the plugs. For some reason when the wires are routed high .......even if they are not over the valve covers, it seems to detract from the engine and whatever intake system it has. An engine that has too much "clutter" never seems to look as good (IMHO) as one where things are simpler with all the attaching things hidden or at least not prominent.

After burning three wires I gave up and ran them the ugly "over the valve covers" route. Oh, well, this engine isn't pretty anyway. Just functional. You'll notice that I turned the looms so that the wires "pointed" towards the plugs but apparently the wires have a mind of their own and just go wherever they want.

I like the way many drag racers do it... running the plug wires under the headers along the side of the block. Just some wire loom nylon clips where needed. Nothing over the valve covers or between the header pipes.

Well; yeah. We all do but there just wasn't a good way to run them under the pipes. I tried and burned wires. There just wasn't any way to run the #3, 4, 5, & 6 wires under the pipes without burning them. When I say "block huggers" these REALLY hugged the block.

Anyway, this ain't no show car and I almost never raise the hood when anyone else is around; like at car shows. For the most part I'm the only one who ever sees this engine.

@atch, you did what you could with the limitations of your setup. Better than the show pony with pretty everything that can't even idle!

I like the way the factory did it.

Well, I do too, but that just didn't work for this engine/header combination.
