Talking about the T5? Lots of info here. A quick search will give you two evening's worth of reading. To answer your question. Shifter location for one. S10 is at the front of the tail shaft housing. Camero is at the back. Cameao T5 has marginally better ratios and may be World Class. S10 T5 mounted straight up in the vehicle. Camaro mounted at an angle and the transmission mount was also angled. If you try to mount a Camaro T5 straight up, as most will want to do, the transmission mount will be problematic. There are more issues; input shaft length and spline count being one. All discussed at length in the older threads.
S10 T5 is low torque application, has close ratio gears and the shifter is farther forward in it's mounting position. If Shifter location requires the most forward shifter you can find then use the S10 Or use the stonger Camaro T5 and use the forward mounting tailshaft/shifter from an S10 T5. Ultimately the strongest T5 is the one from a Mustang but it's shifter is also the one that is furthest back. You can/could use and adapt the most forward shifter (S10) to the strongest mustang T5 and that would allow you to use a T5 in a Model A or 32 in which the normal camaro or mustang tailshaft would place your shifter in the middle of your car seat.
Don't you mean wide? S/T T5s have very low 1st gear ratios usually 4:1 vs the V8 Camaro/Mustang with 3.35:1 or 2.95:1 I'm fairly sure both factory WC T5s for the Camaro and Mustang are max rated for 300lb/ft. The aftermarket does produce some higher ratings IIRC 330lb/ft. IIRC the S trucks used the Ford T5 bellhousing mount pattern. Keep in mind when using a T5 is to not powershift 3rd gear with a torquey engine. It is in the middle of the gearsets and farthest from the bearings, the two shafts flex away from each other under load and hard shifting will cause deflection with chipped teeth and stripped gears being the outcome.
There is a good general discussion @ inliners international--click on tech tips. Also a good article in Jan 2011 Street Rodder for '49 to 54 chevys. One of the main issues can be manual vs electric speedo in newer trans. Camaro shifter won't work for bench seats.
