look in some of the after market books like vintage wheels, I believe they are starting to make the large ford bolt pattern.some of the early 40,s ford or mercs had skinny rims, but most were 16 in.

All of the Ford type 15" 5 on 5.5 wheels I have ever seen are at least 5" wide.. '47-48's.. Depending on the application, the early Ford 15" wheels can be as wide as 6" through '66.. When the F150s came about, the 15" 5 on 5'5 wheels became more HD and the size increased to 6.5".. This style of wheel will always have external hub cap knobs..

1940 60HP Fords used 16x4" 5.5 bolt pattern wheels. I believe they are a one year only wheel. I bought pair for $10 each last summer at a swap meet to use on a future project.

The 60 horse wheels are 3.5" wide and very rare. The 4" wide wheels are common and found on 99.9 percent of the 40-41 Ford passenger cars.

To answer the OP, I too have never seen nor heard of an original FoMoCo 4" wide 15" wheel with a 5.5" pattern.

    Make them.
Find a pair of old bad chrome 15x4 Cragar ss wheels. Knock the aluminum spokes out, clean up the welds.
Remove the centers from a pair 5.5 16" Fords by drilling out the rivets.
The Ford centers fit perfect in the Cragar hoops. True them up and weld away.

From the posts it doesn't look like there was any made. I will look for 15 x 4.5 or 15 x 5
