Hot Rods What would you consider a jalopy

I have once again thrown my hat in the ring to be in the backyard build off for next year. This time it's called the jalopy showdown. I know what I would call a jalopy but I would like some pics of what you guys would consider a jalopy.

I'll give it a go. The etymology is all over the place, but I think here, it's a slightly self deprecating, affectionate term that anyone on this board would use to describe their own ride.

To me, I think the whole TROG thing epitomizes it, or the image of what a broke teenager would drag out of the woods, get running and put on the street in the first half of the 20th century.

I'd consider a "jalopy" just about anything I can afford to own.........

 

It has to have a lot of broken pieces. A build-off. I like that idea. Take your pristine Hot Rod and make it look broken down kind of like a rat rod.

 

I usually think of what a Jalopy as a car that could have been constructed with a limited budget and a lot of sweat equity. HRP
