I want to put some small writing on the trunk lid of my car. I am by no means an artist, and the car needs a paintjob anyway, so I've got nothing to loose. I know what I want in my head, but I'd like to lay it out on there first before painting it on, so if I mess up a part I can fix it, then paint over or around it. I tried chalk but it didn't write on paint. Any ideas?

this is a little trick i was taught recently

Ok say you print the lettering the size you want it on the computer. Take the Stabilio and cover the back side of the letters heavily. Then turn it over were your letters are on top. Place it where you want it and tape it on. Take a pen and draw over your letters. On most surfaces it will put the outline of the letters on the surface. I suck at lettering so I use it alot being a newbie at Pinstriping and stuff

Get some Sarel Transfer paper,it does the same thing quicker and easier.
    Also comes in different colors.

Good tips! And very generous offer tredboy! I'll look locally and see what I can find first. You never know what the girlfriend might have...

I guess I could freehand it on paper or transfere paper, and go from there. Might have to do some pinstriping after that, would that be cheating? [IMG]

i dont think its cheatin. to me its no different then laying out a grid line then drawing it in before you stripe it. im new at this so veterans may have different opinions. Im learning so i use it to do stuff like the pic below

It's only cheating if your Wife,or the IRS,says so. [IMG]

Otherwise it is an aid to production.

i wish. hey i found a guy that has 347 parts. he is looking for a 4 barell intake for me. whats a good carb to put on it?

  15. Holley Dominator! 1150cfm. Kidding. When you get that intake I would check the carb mounting surface because your carb options may be somewhat limited. If I recall those 4 barrel intakes of that period have small butterfly openings which could limit carb choice. The early WCFB carter might be a good choice or maybe the Rochester 4GC.

Pounce pads are good for anyone reproducing designs, quickly and consistantly.

Maybe I should do a How To post on Pounce Pads and Patterns.
