Hi, I have just recently purchased my first 1950 Mercury 2 door and I'm wondering what size wheels everyone uses. 15" is what I currently have but looking at all the pictures on here, the wheels seem bigger.
I would upload a pic of mine but I can't work out how to upload a pic yet....yeah I know stupid newby.
Cheers guys for any light you can shed on this.

Using wide whitewalls on 15 in. rims makes them look bigger.

  4. back in the day when I had a 57 Olds J-2 in my Merc
I ran 850X15 in the Rear & 710X15 in the Front
now that I have a SBC I run 710X15 all the way
    around
although the 850X15 were Cheater Slicks

    just my 3.5 cents

  5. If you run the 2 1/2" white walls on the Car
they don't look as Big as the full white walls
    do
    just my 3.5 cents

I have 15" wheels on my 1950 Mercury coupe. I have a mismatch of tires right now between the front and rear, but I do like the 3"-3 1/4" whitewalls I have in the front. They are Coker Classics Bias Ply G78-15. I eventually would like to put radials on all four tires that have that same size and look.

    710-15 were the standard size
    700-15 option.

I have 710s now with the 3" ww
    before had L78-15 w/ 4" ww

a few threads around on this topic.
