They hadn't invented moveable type when some of us were born, let alone print car magazines.

I've looked through all my old magazines that I still have. Some have disappeared over the years. I'm guessing that issue of the month/year I was born is one of them. But, I seem to remember, Fred and Barney, sitting in their Flintstone Flyer, were on the cover. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

    Hey Guys,
Here is my contribution to all of the above statements. I agree with all, but as soon as I could get my hands on a comic book, I started reading. No Hot Rod Mag until Jan 1948.

I was born in Feb 1944. Hot Rod Magazine was not out until 4 years later, in 1948. I have the hard copy issue of Life Magazine from March 20, 1944. This issue was a month old (after I was born) when it came out. Not like today’s three month advance on the dates. Back then, it took a month’s news to be put on the cover and sometimes sooner if it warranted a flash story for the readers.

Nana Gollner of the Ballet Theatre on cover. Articles also include Last of Lepke, Congress Fun, Governor Dewey in Albany, Lady in the Dark Movie, Frostbite and more. Filled with great World War II advertising and Life's Famous photographs. Color and B/W Photographs, 132 pages .

In a way, not having a vehicle on the cover, there were plenty of vehicle ads inside.

Actually, I was in a photograph inside of that March 1944 issue. My mother told me that the same nurse (in the photo) came into the hospital ward and picked me up. The Life Magazine photographer took the shot. She did not know why the photo was taken and did not see it until three-four years later. But, the nurse told her that it was a Life Magazine Photographer that took the photo of me!

That is me in the photo on the right. I did not see the magazine until I was in high school. What a surprise !

All of you guys that had cars on the covers of magazines, kudos to you, at the time, way back then, there were other things going on that made the covers of magazines, too. Here is a toast to all of those old guys still around.

But, also a coincidence, with the famous ballerina on the cover in 1944. My granddaughter is currently in a ballet studio group. She recently had several small group dance performances and did her first solo performance in front of a packed college auditorium.

Google will show whatever is your favorite mag, that was in print, from 1950.

Can't find a car magazine for 1945 but after taking Hot Rod for 53 years I'm done I'm just not that into 6 figure cars.
