I take the blower off. I might leave the intake on, and use a foot square plate of 1/4" steel that's drilled with the blower mounting pattern, to lift it. Or I might pull the intake and lift from the heads (manifold bolt holes).
Ha! Memories... 1962, had an ex-Reath 331" Chrysler, with Cragar intake and a Hansen 6-71 blower, triple Vee belts. Made a pair of 10 gauge sheet straps that bolted on diagonally to right front and left rear heads. Ha! (again) The strap I had to use made the whole shebang 'aesthetically top heavy', scary, too. In a moment of genius, I set it back down and pursued @squirrel's 'logical approach' method. (I was twenty, O.K.?)
Its too easy to lift the blower off the manifold first. On my dragster I had to pull the motor & trans as one. for my SBC I made a rectangle tube with outriggers on the end for chain, and the chain ends bolted to the assesory holes on the head(each end), The pick-up for the lift bar had 2 holes, one for the engine and the other further back for the engine and trans together. Although often used, never did like the plate bolted to the top of the manifold
Look into engine slings. They generally bolt to the exterior of the heads, exhaust manifold and accessory drive bolt holes. Summit, Jeg's, Speedway all sell them. The roundy-round guys use them alot for pulling motors at the track.
