ok.. i'm looking for some opinions. i decided to go the "different" route and plan on using a dodge flat six 218 engine. rated around 100 hp. and 160 or so of torque. what should i use for the tranny and rear end? i dont care about being period correct, i just wanna be able to shread the tires and hit around 100 mph. any ideas?

  2. I'm assumeing that your putting something pretty light together. If not you're not going to shred tires and hit 100 with the mill you chose. Not that its a bad choice I like different myself.
You can probably get away with an S-10 rear, they're cheap and plentiful. Also fairly narrow.
I don't know what is involved in adapting the tranny but the S10 tranny would serve you well also. Its 4 gears and an OD. They're also cheap and pretty plentiful.
That way you can keep your gear down around 4:1 and still have a cruising gear.
    Now let the fertilizer fly.
