What? the coolest thing I bought at the cedar rapids swap was a lawn mower!!

  1. Some 56 Imperial taillights, a couple of rocket ship hood ornamenrs and a propellor instead of a blade... people will freak out when they see it flying around your yard.

ask my wife - she knows more about lawn mowers than i do - especially since she's the one that uses them

  5. I would opt for the red metalflake, pinstripes and a bubble top.Maybe invert the motor(after polishing and satin chroming everything in sight) and chrome the blade so you can see it spin under the bubble.Chrome wheels with whitewalls and mini spyders too.

Is that the one that the gal was laughing about some fool paying $25 for just to pinstripe it and use at as lawn art? I saw a couple of cool mowers there that guys were dragging around.

  7. I was thinkin' the same thing as Rickybop, headlight and tail light combo from a '56 Lincoln.
At first, I thought the deck like two chopped and elongated mailboxes mated to a space age hovercraft body.
Those looping around the rope and pulling for turning over the motor was tedious and time consuming. I remember as a kid trying to start my grandpa's mower; I hated that mower.

The spark plug "grounder" is broken; that thing is unsafe. Best to let me take it off you hands, I'll pay the shipping. Butch/56sedandelivery.

Paint yes - pin stripe - yes.

dont worry, I wont "modernize" it, another paint scheme could be turquise and creme or pale yellow and creme 2 tone maybe with whitewalls, I do think it is going to be necessary to chrome the engine cover and gas tank....

I disagree.......red flake on the cover and tank........bead blast the engine and polish the edges of the fins........pearl white for the deck. and I do like the idea of lights fore and aft in those deck humps.
But it's your mower, and you have every right to tell me to piss off.

I'm pretty sure the motor is a clinton A400. They were famous for throwing rods.
Looking at the V shape on the deck , I'm guessing it's a murray.

Man, that's cool and the wheels aren't even broken off. About every mower I used when I was a kid, usually the thing that killed them was the wheels either went to crap or the handle broke. That one looks like it hit retirement in pretty good shape.

Hmmm...lets see...leave the patina, shoot some bullet holes in it, add some skulls and spider webs, cut off the handle and replace it with welded-links logging chains...
