Hello all you H.A.M.B.urgers! I´m just about to get started with this baby. A few more photos here; http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3885017 I´m thinking of; -Letting the exterior be as is (maybe clearcoat it for protection) -Lowering it a few inches, (maybe bags to the rear) -Sun visor and skirts -Whitewalls and babymoon sor such -Engine and other technical stuff shall be checked -Interior / engine bay will be made as nice as possible for me (maybe tuck´n´roll style on the interior) What would you suggest? Thanks for any & all ideas!!
Make it drivable and put some miles on it. The paint is already butvhed so I wouldn't worry about it right away. While you are driving it it will come to you what to do with it. When that happens go for it. I wouldn't worry about the engine bay up front apart from giving it a good cleaning, you are probably going to get tired of going 55 and want to change some things anyway. Those are neat old wagons BTW. I had a '54 with a blue flame and ecport package. The only car I ever owned that I didn't seriously molest. If it were mine it would become a surf wagon. But its not mine.
A couple of old longboards on a vintage roof rack and get it running good.Interior, maybe a couple indian print blantets and don't forget a few vintage surfing decals on the back windows! Cool old wagon, should be a blast to drive.
I would probably paint mine. When they were popular surf wagons the paint was still pretty solid on them. Next year I'm trippin' to the coast, perhaps trippin' on the coast , send me you addy and I'll snag you some state decals for the windows. That will make it like a real long mile wagon. Not only surf decals were popular back then but also a decal from every state you ever traveled in. My '54 had almost every state on it before I ever laid a hand on it. I left them even though they weren't popular at the time. Surf wagon for sure. I never learned to surf but I did spend a lot of time at the beach when I was growing up.
Oh yeah! I´ll give ya my addy and ´cause it (and the car) is in Finland the mileage is even more substantial! I might even pay for the postage!
That is a cool wagon! Lots of good suggestions on what to do. Little bit of drop, little bit of cleaning and a lot of driving!
cool wagon. Lowering will give it attitude. I just finished my 53 and went airride , mustang II, V-8. Unfortunately mine was a cheap repaint and didn't have patina so I repainted it.
Well, mostly freezing. During winter months we tend to but skies under our boards and let our dogs or reindeers pull us along the shorelines... Yeah, right.
Do you like to travel? That thing would be cool pulling a small caravan..... I think paint it, make it like new - repower it with something strong and take it on the road.
