Hot Rods What is this transmission out of?

I got this with some other hot rod stuff and I'm curious what this came out of. Note that it is open drive. Also it is a side shift yet there is no side cover; it has a top opening . Does not have the partial bellhousing like early Fords yet it resembles an F1 transmission. Any thoughts?

 

T86 was used in 60's Jeep's with the 225 Buick V6. 4x4 guys do not consider it adequate for more than moderate use..
