I have a GM Dual Point Tack Dist & I forget what the Total Dwell of it is I know what each of Points is supposed to be But I want to know the Total is it 38 degrees thats what happens when you get Old Just my 3.5 cents or when the Cows come Home!
In 1957 Chevy said this about dual point Corvettes' dwell. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/1957csoc/57csoc19.html The tune-up section starts over 2 dozen pages earlier. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/1957csoc/57csoc02.html The very first step was removing the spark plugs, followed immediately by a compression test. The ignition points were inspected and adjusted, not necessarily replaced ( and adjusted). Even the points spring tension was checked and adjusted if necessary. Plus torquing the manifolds, head bolts, measuring the cranking voltage, and a whole bunch more. It is most unfortunate that tune up degenerated to plugs-n-points.
The is a Corvette 63 Vintage Dual Point Tack Drive, Needle Point Dist. which has served me Right in my Racing Days & in My Merc 327/300 hp 63 version since I was doing a Complete Tune up on the Car I wanted to know! Thanks to All for the Imfo Dom.
yes what they said.....but it always helps to know.....what distributor we're working with.....like the # on it....
