What is a factory "stripped chassis" anyways?

    Just curious I was surfing the net for info on my 58 Buick and found this..

    Model 531-Stripped Chassis...........168 units Super Series.

    I thought maybe bare bones Police or government car?

    maybe a car with no rear body, for conversion to a hearse or ambulance or whatever?

    Maybe so, but one might think they would use the station wagon model

    Units for professional conversions...ambulance/hearse, etc.

  7. Bare chassis sometimes a roller with an engine and sometimes not.

    They were sold to companies to build the equivalent of a coach built car.
