  1. I got the picture to go full screen Its evident the valve cover dont have any embossed script. it a baldie. The cable might just be laying there it,s unclear whether it is hoked to the dist. Now its painted red. eary FE,s the 332 was fatory painted green. 352,s where blue. after 61 most 352,s had blue valve covers. All the 64 390,s I ever seen where all painted red and had gold THUNDERBIRD valve covers. We need more pictures & casting numbers. OldWolf

OK, that eliminates the Edsel dizzy, so you're back to an early car 332-4V or 352-4V. Those early valve covers do look good on an engine but are different than the later 427 "baldies" that have clipped corners for master cylinder clearance, and the early ones also have a bead stamped in the mounting flange that the 427 (or dress-up kit) chrome baldies don't. Later 352's thru '64 usually had the FORD logo'd covers, while the thru-64 390-4V (and 6V) and the 406's had the gold THUNDERBIRD covers. Your heads and such probably have casting numbers in the B8AE-B9AE-C0AE range- if the heads are C0AE, I'd be interested in them

They are FT's, not FE's, and the little one was a 330, not 331. Yep, several variants due to medium or heavy duty status, 330MD or HD, (359, 361), (389, 391). Got one complete one left under the pallet rack, It's an HD type but haven't looked at it close enough to see which one. And they had governor features connected to the carbs AND tach drives- most of the tach-equipped trucks still around have an entertaining sound coming from the dash- the old tach cable skeeeratching around in there, accompanied by a dancing tach needle

  6. you are correct about the 330. the 58& 59 332 had the 4inch bore same as a 352. the stroke was shorter on the 332. the 330 truck engine commonly found in F600 trucks has less than a 4 inch bore. The 330 md had a water pump like the other FE engines. The HD has a water pump similar to a 429 &460. My 66 had the 330 MD it was governored a 60 MPH. OldWolf

Looks like the HAMB has determined it to be an early 4V 332 or 352. Definitely worth saving the entire engine. Don't let the scrapper take it away.

If its a late 50s FE I would be interested in t for a period swap for my 55 sunliner but you are too far from me to make it worth the effort.

Heads are probably worth snagging as well, probably C1AE's or similar. Same ports as 427 low riser. If it were me, I'd grab the whole thing, and check what cores it was cast on. Could be thick.

I worked on a lot of medium truck and school buses, that lump looks like a truck engine.I never saw an original 4 barrel on anything smaller than a 391 FT... Of course the manifold could have been swapped and adjustable rockers??? I could be wrong....

If that trans adapter is an Offenhauser, it'll have #0603 stamped or cast into it. I think Cragar used the same numbers.

If it is, it will mate:
    Lincoln 430 '58-'61
    Edsel '58-'59
    Ford 332-428 '58-'72
    Mercury exc. 368 '58-'72 Engines

    To:
    '32-'48 Ford & '39-'50 Mercury Tranmissions.

It is a late 50's early 60's lincoln 410 cuin lincoln engine used in the truck line for about five or so years. long crank throw gave it great torque to move the heavy loads. gary w. mrstrkn12
