I was just passing through Kansas when I found a junkyard worth looking at. There was an active crushing machine going, and I saw this hood sitting in a utility trailer about 4 cars away from the crushing machine. On the spur of the moment I bought it just to keep it from being crushed. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT FITS. Now I probably have a wall decoration. I google searched for different hoods of the 1930's, and didn't come up with a match. Certain 38 Ford products seemed to come close, but not one was just right. Anybody able to identify it? All I can say is that it is hinged down the center, has a wide gap at the front to fit over+around some large trim or hood/radiator ornament, and hood is right at 5 ft total length. I did not see any provisions for long hinges down the sides for the side hood panels. maybe removed or maybe not used. Ideas what model car to look up? I dono what to do with it. WHY BE ORDINARY ?
I think it looks like a 40 Oldsmobile. Regardless save it. I'll try and look it up for sure. Yep, I think That's it Ron...
fate of car unknown. this was on a utility trailer for unknown period of time. could've been years or hours WHY BE ORDINARY ?
Definitely not a Ford, they had a one piece hood then (37-38) that you turned the hood ornament to open.
Thank You! It does seem to be like the 42 Dodge. Prolly is.... I was googling 30s cars when I should have looked at the 40s too. I'm not 100% certain, but it sure looks like it. Thanks! I still dono what I'm going to do with it WHY BE ORDINARY ?
