Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oldrelics, Dec 17, 2010.

  1. nice paint is highly overrated...I painted my pickup with a roller and a brush....RustOleum hunter green.....just an old hillbilly beater, 1956 Dodge 1/2ton.

Most occasions when I paint a car the colour has been chosen from the mismatches at the paint shop,,,Get some hellish good deals on quality paint...One day they even had some puke green Lessonal.. $300 paint for $15.00..it was gawd awful but totally suited 80's ford

  5. I didn't paint mine untill 6 months after this thread was started, so as long as we've dug it up I'll say that for me Dove Grey is the new black, and at 64 years old it's a hell of a lot easier to care for. I've had several black cars and I'm done with black.
So I guess in short, my paint choice says " I'm gettin old ".

  10. Club coupe look in the ford dealership for a paint & assessory brochure. Lots of color choices. My roadster is 96 ford truck deep iris metallic, pic is a few posts back. I like stock colors easier to touchup.

My Essex will be light grey, probably with white scallops. Wheels will be black.

    black sheep rodders? I'm a shoe-in...

The '58 is kind of a seafoam green pearl with bluish purple flames, it's a little funky and fun. Women and children love it...

For every color that I said I would never paint a car, I can always find an exception that looks good.

Back in the early 50's my neighbor inherited his elderly aunts all original folkstone grey coupe. It was a car that I really liked to look at in those days and got me interested in old cars. We palyed for hours in that car pretending to go on trips and such, I only wish I had it today, his dad sold it for $200. After much thought and delberation I am painting my current build, a 40 coupe folkstone grey. I would be the first to concede I am getting up there, but painting my hot rod grey is sentimental for me and it is true that lighter colors are less work, so why not?

Some of our cars. I hated the pink 49 Ford but it sort of grew on us. At least I could tell everyone it was my wife's car!
The yellow 41 Ford is what I traded the pink one for. A slight improvement. I also got used to it and many like the color.
My favorite color is red. If all cars were red I'd be happy!
Black looks expensive and clean to me. Black is beautiful.
Actually most colors look good on the right car.We even owned an orange 77 Vette.
