  1. This morning I repaired some wiring in my '51 Olds. The rest of the day I wasted!

Refilled my parts washer with Purple Power. Worked on Crosley block [in directly] by boring boat exhaust manifold to same port bore diameter as the block to use for trimming manifold gaskets. Then worked on an end mill with electric bushing for more port work on block. Online while looking for a particular thames I found a pic of a Ford 427 SOHC with four carbs; four barrels and factory looking air cleaners!:D Then lost it:mad:

Today I scored a cold saw, for free.

It has seen some mistreatment. I will make it right again.

I pressure washed it, and assessed its needs to put it into service.

The parts I need have not yet arrived so I took my pretty wife golfing. On the way we stooped off for a bagel breakfast sandwich at my favorite joint and found they were closing for good. I couldn't go visit my mom as her care facility is closed to visitors. Strange days indeed.

Got the carb off, and found my fuel leak. Inlet fitting threads on the front bowl are stripped. So, ordering a replacement bowl now, hopefully it’ll be here in a couple days.

May 12th 2020 Started on the back bottom bodywork. The top still has a few flaws to clean up requiring one more coat of paint but, I can still get started on the next phase. Went over the rough bottom areas with Scotchbrite cookies in the air angle grinder and gave the area the dawn dish soap and water treatment. We're ready to spread some mud. Background music was The Traveling Wilburys.

Actually drove my hot rod for the first time. I've been working on it on and off for about 12 years. Decided I needed to get it to the point where I could move it under it's own power. Since the Covid thing I've put in a wire harness and made the brakes operational. Today I ran a hard fuel line to the trunk area. Going to start building a fuel tank next.

This is an early mock-up picture. I wish I knew why when I post more than one full size picture they get doubled up. 09-8-18a.jpg IMG_1316.JPG 09-8-18a.jpg IMG_1316.JPG 09-8-18a.jpg 09-8-18a.jpg 09-8-18a.jpg

Took 2 hours of free time and relaxed by sharpening every drill bit I own. Sitting in one place doing a repetitive job while listening to Texas Outlaw music. Waylon, Willie, Jerry Jeff, Gary P. Nunn with a little of Gary Stewart thrown in on the side. I feel better.

Still knocking out the last of the wiring on the 34. Got my front running lights/signals wired in and mounted. I did not realize how hard it is to find something with an 1157 bulb in it. I ended up with J&P Cycles rear turn signals. Amber bulbs , clear lens. I think they look the part. 20200514_192801.jpg

  23. Finished up the welding on the 56 wagon and cleaned up the mess. Next is to start on the mechanical.

Removed a few screws. Temporarily foiled by the clutch heads. Thought I had a bit for those, but don’t, so I’ll have to pick one up tomorrow.

May 15th 2020 Time to install the new windshield. Pulled the windshield hinges down off the shelf and gave them a two-day soak in the EvapoRust soup, followed by PRE Paint Prep and a coat of Eastwood's Extreme Chassis Black. Then the windshield assembly was fitted for new stainless steel screws. Hinge to cab screws are #10-32 x 1/2" which I have in inventory. Windshield frame screws for hinges and regulator are #8-32 x 3/8" . I don't have those so a McMaster-Carr order was initiated. Beer of the day is Wild Ride Brewing's Hidden Trail NW Hazy Pale Ale.

Got seat in 56, complete with cheap 1970's seat cover.( will do for now) Wife and I put in new rear window/seal and we are still married!! I'm going to ask 2 buddies to help me install windshield tomorrow, I hate to ask them with this social distancing but they said they will do it- We'll wear masks... Geez what a weird situation.... Also replaced bushings in leaf springs- actually didnt need it. But did find bracket was loose on frame-rocked about 1/8" so ground off rivets and replaced with bolts. Today I finally got some color applied to the ol' Model A pickup (driveway paint job). It's been a deferred project for about 5 years now, this Covid lockdown finally gave me the time I needed to get back on it. Been straigthening the body and doing the prep work for a couple of weeks now, shot the color and clear coat this morning. 20200515_154746_HDR.jpg 20200515_154852_HDR.jpg
