Technical What coolant do you run?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Fabulous50's, Feb 26, 2022.

  1. Check for Voltage, one lead in the coolant the other grounded, anything more then half a volt is no good. It’s checking the coolant for acidity, an acid and dissimilar metals in the cooling system equals a crude battery

Used it for years in huge gas compressors . Anti freeze is a chemical solution , it is clear , the difference in brands is anti rust additives . We would buy it in tanker trucks at a time , on cooling tower held 7500 gallons . When purchased , the dealer would ask what color do you want it delivered in .

I use house brand green stuff along with a bottle of anti rust in my flatheads with aluminum radiator and water outlets. I add anti rust once a year. Nothing has dissolved yet. On the other hand, these are not fancy high dollar outfits so it makes little difference to me.

Let’s hear from someone using Evans……

I looked into it, but haven’t made the change yet on my 348 Chev with about 2500 miles on it; I probably won’t. Here’s what I know so far:

    1) It is not compatible with water, so you need to do a flush with their intermediate product first. At Summit Racing it is $31 per gallon.
    2) Current price of the coolant is $48 per gallon.
    3) It lasts forever.
    4) Jay Leno likes it.
