    .

    '70 Mercury Cyclone with a 429 SCJ.
The car was not very old, neither was I.

I know where it is today.

  3. My buddy Woody had a sweet '56 Ford 2 door post sedan in his senior year.
It was nosed and decked, Buick portholes in the hood, extended fins and frenched tail lights, tubular grill, white paint with a white and gold rolled and pleated interior.
Under it's hood was a fairly stock 292 with a Fenton intake with 3 carbs.
It did have an intimidating look to it so no one would run him.
I know for a fact that that car couldnt fall off a cliff, but it packed a whallop in the eve candy department.
If I remember correctly he paid only $550 for it from my dads Lincoln Mercury dealership.
Outside our little circle Woody was considerd a nerd but when he got that Ford his high school status rose many rungs on the social ladder.

Well most kids were pissed at having to drive their parent's cars, but my first car I bought from my mom in 1967. She drove a '57 Chev Belaire sedan. I loved it, and it only cost me ten payments of $50 ea. back then! :)

I had a 2001 Firebird when I graduated in 2005. It's slow, but it looks great and I still drive the hell out of it! It's not easy to fit 2 car seats in the back... but it can be done!

1993, I had a 67 Cougar and a 64 Ranchero. Both small block cars, I still have the Ranch but traded the Cougar for an F250 4x4. Nobody else at the school was into old cars, a few guys had Datsun 510s and Chevettes that they thought were pretty awesome. My brother had a 70 Mustang fastback with a Cleveland, and him and I would do one-tire-fire burnouts on the uphill right hand turn out of the parking lot most days. As far as cool cars go, my HS was real lame, but hey, it was the early 90s and musclecar prices had gone out of reach for most high schooler's income level.

I drove this '68 Camaro to high school my senior year. This photo was taken early in the school year, and by the end of the year, it was rubbed out, had trim and full interior installed. It was a budget build, but turned out pretty well for what I had invested in it (about $3000).

This T-Bucket was my transportation during my junior year. I sold it during the summer to finance the Camaro project. I started this project when I was 13 and finished it just prior to my 16th birthday.

    Those were fun times...:)

1973-74, my first car, a '66 Caprice 2 dr hdtp with a 396, Turbo 400, buckets and console with factory gauges. White with black vinyl top and black interior. Grayspoke mag wheels (not American torque-thrusts, but some off-brand). I loved that car. My first brake job, front-end rebuild, engine rebuild, etc were done with that Chevy.

I really wanted a '56 Nomad after seeing a red and white one at a car lot on New Year's Day in 1972. Nineteen years later, in January 1991, I finally got the Nomad![IMG]

In '65 I had a '57 Plymouth. Flathead six with a 3spd. I put in a conversion kit (shifter), a Covico steering wheel, chrome wheels and turned the torsion bars to lower it. My Auto Shop teacher called it the "Green Latrine". I thought it was the coolist car in the Valley!

I finished high school in 1964 at the end of the year I had Two.. First a 1957 XK 140 jaguar Roadster with D type head, And I paid a 125 dollars for 21 thousand one owner miles 59 Rambler station wagon with let down seats. The cheap price was because it had a bad clutch which I repaired. All my friends wanted to borrow this unit. Their were several others that I bought and sold but these 2 stick out.

1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk, 259 Stude engine with dual two's and an auto. Fastest car in the school after too much teasing. Lot's hanging jaws and shaking heads. Even smoked the auto shop class project car. There is nothing cooler then blowing someone's doors off with a car no one suspects is fast. They should have paid attention to Bonneville and then they would have known that America's fastest production cars were all Studebakers. Nothing even came close.
Only picture I have left of the car.

Taken at "Little Lions" in the San Fernando Valley circa 1968. Right before the big challenge day massacre.
