I have the same axle as this ... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=356406 I only have the axle and spindles with backing plates. I need the hubs and brakes. What are my options? Disc or drum? I have searched and not found much on the '61-64 axle, must not be too common? I want it to be the small 4 1/2" bolt pattern. This is going in my '60 Falcon gasser project. THANKS
I would sell it or trade it to a truck guy & go looke for a Falcon/Econoline Van front axle assy. They have 5on4 1/2 Small Ford pattern already. All them Factory axles need to be narrowed a bit to look right in a Falcon.
You are not the first person to tell me that. I was hoping to fine a hub that would fit and some kind of brakes for the one I have in a 4 1/2" bolt pattern. Is the Falcon/Econoline Van front axle the right width already? I did plan on narrowing the one I have. Anyone have a Falcon/Econoline Van front axle they want to sell or trade? OR anymore suggestions?
If it were me and i was to use the Van axle i would narrow it. I have seen guys that run them stock but to me it looks a Lil goofy cus the wheels are out to far. Narrow it up or buy a REAL Straight axle, Thats the Ticket for sure. I picked up an Old Chrome CAE/Blairs Speed Shop axle awhile back for Free & put it under my '54 Ford Customline.
Are the Econoline axles the same as the Falcon van? OR is a Falcon van an Econoline? Does it have more or less drop than the '61 F100 axle? OR should I just buy the Speedway setup?
