  1. Looks like some fat chicks cut off shorts laying there to me, not sure if I'd be advertising that AJ.

Joe Gibbs has an Oil out, think it's BR-1 that has zinc in it for the older motors...

Get them while they last....ONLY AVAILABLE AT THE EVENT!

What the lovefest! Don't you guys remember all the smack talk this sucker slung around for the last several months! First he talks me into driving 2/3 of the way across the country to a dragstrip in IL...in July...to a race called the Meltdown Drags (which I thought was because it was in IL in July) because a few guys on the HAMB double-dog dared him! After we talked about it I thought, cool, I've seen some pics and video of the event, and it looks pretty cool and it'll be a fun road trip. Oh by the way, we're gonna get some chassis work done, switch the Richmond 5 speed out for a Jerico 4 speed, put in a new clutch and instead of a cylinder head swap, we're gonna basically change everything in and on the motor...and do most of it in the month before the race! No problem! (We can relate to you guys trying to finish up for this year!) So we get the car done, the important stuff anyway, make the 39 hour drive (damn that's a long way!) to Byron, and as we exit the highway Ric mentions the Nuclear Plant just off the end of the track... (now I realize why it's really called the Meltdown Drags, I think he waited to tell us on purpose). We decide we've come way too far to turn back, but if we see anyone with a thumb growing outta their forehead we're turning around! We get to the track, have the best drag race weekend of our lives despite chasing ignition gremlins for 2 days, because we're at the best event at the best track with the best people and cars in the country! After I get over the drive and the fuel bill, which took all of about 2 weeks, all I can think about is going back and the anticipation only builds as the year goes by! Then this toad proceeds to tell me that we might not be able to go because he's gonna be moving over the summer! I suggest moving the motor home and the 56 over the Meltdown weekend with a detour through Byron, but it just wasn't in the cards! Like Ric said, we talked about flying out and attending as spectators, but that's probably not gonna workout either. So 9sectruck, you're not gonna be the only grumpy old man on the 17th! Now to find out there's DVD's of last year only available at the event! Oh the humanity! I might have bought all of 'em! Maybe better that I can't make it so others can get a copy. Sounds like it's gonna be a great event once again, maybe the best one yet. Like Ric said, the realization that we're not going is starting to sink in, and it's depressing, but hopefully someone will get our spot and have the time of their lives and another Meltdown junkie will be created. Have a great time guys! Take lots of pics and video and hopefully we'll see ya next year!

I was pretty sure I wasn't going to make it for quite a while, but it wasn't until I emailed and cancelled my registration that it really sank in that I wasn't going. This depression will be hard to kick.

It's funny that you ask,Kip,cause I am still working nights, haven't been to bed yet,it's almost lunchtime, and I'm driving around trying to find a body shop to paint my hood....last estimate was $800!!!!!!
They seem to not understand that it's a Frickin old racecar, and it just needs a little shiny paint on the top side of the hood!
I will do it with rattle and tomorrow morning if the weather is decent...screw it.

Also looking at fuel system fittings online right now,so I can call my buddy Big Rob and get that shit ordered up...
Ram cam through with my clutch disc, but sent me the wrong throw out bearing, and my Dad is wiring up the car as we speak.....I'd be dead in the water without that guy.:)

I had to give up my registration number today due to a family medical issue. Bad for me but hope it lets someone else enjoy one of the greatest event ever.
last year was my first year and I had a ball. Was planning on a much better time this year knowing what to expect.
I hope you all play safe and have the best meltdown ever and the weather gods smile down on you. Ron
