Well the title says it all. I guess I made the decision to try the roll on Rustolium project 'cause I had time and not much $$$$. So I better just dig in and sand!! This is where a couple of friends and some wobble-pops would come in handy! By the way I have a small area of the roof sanded out with 1500 grit and hand rubbed and the Rustolium looks pretty damn smooth!! (better than any current factory paint!). Pics soon. Maybe santa will get me a new digital camera.
Cool...can't wait for pics....want to see something other than that Corvair they painted with Rustolium...
Hey, Jump down to some 400 or 600 grit paper for the first sanding. Later, you can come back with 1200-1500 for a final leveling/ sanding. Save those arms for serious work, and don't drink all the beer in one sanding section! Swankey Devils C.C.
I started with 600 grit. Slow going. The story in Hot Rod said start with 800 grit. And only wet sand between everyother coat of paint. I might try some 400 grit and just use very light pressure. The roof is done and I just couldn't wait 'til the rest of the body was done to try some 1000 and 1500. The time seems to go faster with the soda's!! Plus I don't realize how cold it is outside!! lol
