picked up a 28/9 pickup cab a twenty’s dodge truck cowl and a few bits and pieces. Found this really kool aftermarket oil filter thought it was a toilet paper filter but when I opened it up it had a cloth bundle wrapped with twine. Anyone out there retrofit a canister filter into something like this?
That tin looks pretty good. Its got the smooth light brown rust of western tin, instead of the dark brown / black deep rust pits with moss growing on it we have here in the swamp. Good score, happy hunting
That reminds me of how things were around my home town here in Northern California in the late 60s, early 70s. Sadly, nice finds like yours have been grabbed up a long time ago. One man's junk is another man's treasure!
Just another thought, I'm not great at identifying mid 40's Ford trucks, but if that's a 47, it could have an open drive rear end.
Very cool! Take a drive in the country and come back with a buildable 28/29 cab! Could do that right here in Socal too - about 50-60 years ago.
The Ford pickup is a '42-'47. We called them Jailbars. If it's a V8 truck, it has both the open drive banjo read and an open drive version of the '39 toploader.
