    Hey Grantrobert-

First, you are in for a real treat.

When it comes to camping, we usually have a pretty good crowd, but weather is definitely a factor. If it is going to be a little cooler and no rain, expect it to fill up. If it is going to be hot, it may not. If I was you, I would do everything you can to try and get here earlier than Friday evening. Plus, you get to see more awesome racing.

Welcome man, we hope you have a blast!

    Jeff

IMG_20170608_153412856.jpg Well, looks like I'm coming with the old turd motor. Got a coolant leak issue on the new motor, so it's on it's way to Houston tomorrow. It's not real bad, but bad enough to worry me. Wont be enough time to get it back, and in the car, and build headers. So, it's back to the 20 yr. old iron headed 430. But it's still gonna be lots of fun. Maybe next year with the new bullet. On the subject of the new engine, this was my first time to have an engine dynoed. Damn, that is really hard to stand there and watch. Did not realize how loud an engine is out of the car!

How do you guys find time to accomplish major stuff on your cars? I'm just not organized enough. Too much going on at once . On another subject, are we allowed to use four wheeler in pits ? I know they said no mini bikes.

    Hey Rocketsled-

It is pretty cool to see the dedication of people to do whatever it takes to make the Meltdown. I think it is something pretty special.

We specifically called out mini-bikes because they became a shit show last year. Our big thing is SAFETY. Racers who need to use a golf cart or 4-wheeler to tow their car is 100% acceptable. Someone who needs them because they can't walk or have some health/age issues is totally acceptable. A bunch of kids screwing around is not.

Our ask is that everyone help us monitor this and address unsafe behavior. We are going to have well over 10,000 people at this event and it is very different than most events we all attend. We just need to work to be safe.

It's easy for me because of my passion for the sport.
I work on everyday cars for a livin so any chance to work on my race car is like a vacation.
My younger years were spent tuning on dry pond racer cars so I feel like I am playing catch up to my real passion.......Vintage drag racing.

I enjoy working on the car almost as much as driving it, and I have to be care full to set other more important priorities. Like minded drag racers all agree that it can comsume you, its all you want to think about and spend your money on.

Got to keep God and family first, and they will allow it to happen.

I am lucky to have a very understanding wife that lets me do this, as long as the credit card is paid up every month.
New alternator arrived, put it on ( no more run on ) :)

    Good news Norb.
Norb if you get your parts out of a dumpster you don't need a credit card. ;)

If the car is broke and there's a race happening soon, you hustle and get the car working again. Don't even stop to think about it.

Car wasn't broke last year. Yet we thought maybe a stall upgrade was a good idea. Would have been a great idea if we would have purchased one from a company that is well know in that department. Instead we spent a good 5 days and took the transmission out 8 times. Only to put the stock converter back in to make it to the meltdown. We look back and laugh about it now. Some of the most frustrating and yet good time spent with my son.
