Ended up with an odd looking balancer pulley. I grabbed it up because the belt width and depth looked similar to another pulley on an aluminum bracket I had at home. Didn't know what any of it was initially. Thinking now it's a supercharger bracket and tensioning arm for an early Thunderbird. Have only found one clear picture so not sure if it should have a rear bracket to go along with what I have or not.

Scored a standard bore 327 (code says 67 L79 Chevelle, not that that matters) a Torquer 2 intake, and a ‘62 Borg Warner T-10 in a basket. The T-10 has a 23 spline output and a bolt on yoke so it’s probably from a Skylark or an F85 with the aluminum 215. 4sds for those are apparently rare. I’ve been after a T-10 or a Muncie to replace the Saginaw in my ‘63 Impala SS. I’ll have to either find a Chevy output shaft or an aluminum Buick guy who wants it and keep shopping.

  9. Lewk, Nice score, and good that you got a yoke for that 4 speed. They were hard to find 40 years ago.

I got a 3 jaw chuck, a Aloris tool post, some tool holders, boring bars, a live center, some chucks for the tailstock, and a knurling tool. Enough to get started once I get power to it.

It's got a 7.5 HP 220 volt 3 phase motor in it. I'll have to convert to single phase.

Picked this oil bottle up at an auction over the weekend. Looked disgusting when I brought it home, and I added the spout to it.

Two weekends ago, at a different auction, found this old 8 day wind-up clock for the dashboard. It’s destined for the RPU project, whether I can get it working or not.

  22. G'day, I scored a long visit with a fellow in blue that dropped by in a car with flashy lights on the top. It appears that someone found my local storage and stole a 40 year collection of vintage stereo equipment along with some extra tools and stuff. I had to file a police report in -10 degree weather with an officer that didn't appear to be interested in the cold.

All I can say is that is was a good thing they didn't get into the garage. There is 40 years of Snap On tools plus a vintage parts collection to match. My brother came down and made sure they weren't going to be able to open the doors of the garage so hopefully what is left is safe. I guess maybe it is time to finish some cars and sell off the extra parts. Anybody need 40 or so Chevy intake manifolds mainly cross rams.

  25. I don't know the throw of the lathe, but I have a 12 inch throw on my lathe and I am using a 220v single phase motor, and it works great.
If you want to use the 3 phase motor on a standard 220v circuit, there are a couple of ways of doing this economally:
The best option, would be to buy or make a static, two phase to three phase converter. I am presently using a commercial static converter that I have converted into a rotary converter, and made my own static converter for some two to five horsepower, three phase motors. They have worked well. The reason I am using a rotary phase converter, is that I am using one motor on a hoist, and the rotary converters work better when there is a high starting load. On a lathe, that would not be a problem.
If you are interested, I have plans for a static converter. If you are interested, just PM me .
It is even possible to actually use the rope start technique to get the three phase motor to run on the 220v circuit. I have never done this done, and would not do it myself, but I have seen this done on other equipment.

I got a SM465 4 speed trans, bellhousing, yoke, crossmember , brake/clutch pedal assembly with linkage and power booster/master cylinder combo . Just getting my options lined up for the ‘48 Ford F1. I already have a car Saginaw 4 speed set up and now twiddling my thumbs on wether I want a ST10/Muncie or a T5.
