its a Latham axial flow supercharger 11 stage axial compressor one of approx 600 made. alot were used on FE's back in the day with Carter YH's and a single thin belt to run them, This one when purchased had the tripple v belt setup and the twin 40's. i bought this off Evilbay and adapted it to fit the olds. To pay the respect it deserves i will run webers and the triple V belt it has already. ill post up a couple others. And sorry for jacking the thread.
It's not my brain child as I got the idea from a project Jim Inglese did on a 455 Olds. The tops are IDA four barrel adapters that I profiled to fit an Offy tunnel ram individual runner base. This profile works on all the small block Chevy, Ford & Mopar bases along with the 455 Olds base. The adapters are also individual runners so this setup should have great performance along with good low end torque with the long runners. I made the custom oil filler tube using a Moon mini tank cap and bung.

Jim I. sent me these progress shots of the SBC Offy IDA Triple he is doing for me. He managed to work out the progressive linkage. It will cruise on the center carb and then the two outboard carbs will kick in. I'm stoked.
My experience with them is that they are like fuel injection with a float bowl. I strongly believe that they are designed to be used on individual runners, resulting in tunability. Dick Willets had a set of IDAs on SBC powered A and kept searching for the source of gas smell in garage. Finally came to believe that smell was coming from float bowl vents. Not good in a garage with water heater, etc. Anybody got experience, input, or a fix for that issue? Don't believe I had it with my Dellortos, which would, as a side note, mellow out most any cam.
Unless you are a stickler for Webers, Mikuni makes a carb that is pretty much a clone of the DCOE Weber.
