    Hello,

When you see a sedan delivery or station wagon in a beach city, one immediately thinks of surfboards/ocean/surfers. Sometimes it is true and other times a clue as to what is inside of the sedan delivery may be in the offering. When I saw this cool 1952 Ford Sedan Delivery, I was happy that it looked so nice. These sedan deliveries are around, but the station wagons and woodies are more popular in most beach cities.

The interior was completely finished and was pristine. The owner, if he lives near the ocean, takes “pride in his ride” as there was a perfectly clean carpet and upholstery everywhere. No sand in sight. The color matched the outside paint job and was the crowning point to make this sedan delivery stand out anywhere it goes.

The detailing on the rear portion of the sedan delivery was excellent. There was just enough chrome to highlight the red/maroon paint job and custom look. It is one nice cruiser and possibly a transportation vehicle for our favorite partners, dogs.

There is plenty of room in the back compartment for those 4 legged friends to play and nap. The carpeting looks sturdy enough, even for Big Dogs… But, it looks super clean, back there, even nice enough for little dogs running around playing.

    Hey P,
Nice 53 Pontiac 2 door sedan. I like the contrast of the red wheels on the car. One of my friends bought a similar Pontiac for his first car in 1960-61. It was a clean stock looking model that was white. Yes, he bought it from "a little old guy (not lady) from Long Beach (not Pasadena). He knew that it would not be a hot rod racer, like most of the other cars in our high school group, but he was a hot rod/cruiser at heart.

He was brave enough to ask me to build him a floor shifter for his car. A floor shifter in a 53 Pontiac? He saw a T-roadster cruising down the street and saw the long floor shifter rod sticking up in the air. So, he wanted to have something that was different that the rest of our group's cars. We were all in metal shop and auto shop during 1960-62, so building one was not a problem.

After building a mock up on a spare Hydramatic Transmission, we carefully adapted it to his car. There was a nice hole in the tunnel, it stuck out just at the right level and all that was needed was the tall lever with a custom ball. The first one was a straight stick that hit things as it moved forward and back. So, the next model was a curved one that worked perfectly. It also was as high as the top of the dash.

The white round ball was the final item. It looked outstanding for my first floor shifter project. Of course, we both got an "A" for our efforts. It helped that the teacher was a "dyed in the wool" hot rod/drag race, fanatic that spent Saturday nights at Lions Dragstrip.

He did not have to do much to the car as it ran quite well and lasted as a daily driver for many years, custom gear selector lever and all... We all liked the rear end as it had the mini fins, different than any of the other GM cars.
