Didn't Autometer build an "anniversary" model vintage style tach? Does anyone know where to locate one of these? I've done serveral searches but came up with nothing. I'm looking for a tach to mount on top of the dash of my 40 Ford. Would like a high quality tach mounted in a chrome cup with a flat mounting bracket. Something that would look at home in a 50-60s vintage hot rod. Thanks, Norris
I think your referring to this one. 2007 limited release http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_672787_-1
I like AutoMeter's stuff, except they need to learn how to paint needles white instead of day-glo orange.
The style of tach you are refering to is not really 50/60's era correct-if that matters to you. The 439 series competition tach was introduced in Nov 1969. I just sold a whole bunch of NOS ones.
I second the Sun Tach. Fairly cheap. Only problem with Ebay/Used is it may not work but Williamsons in Arkansas can fix them.
Moon tach looks right. Do you know if it comes with a dash(flat) bracket? Description in catalog doen't say.
With a name like that, it's easy to see were they price there stuff at. This is more like what they would have had in the 40's and 50's.... I think these were available in several different ranges... 5 grand 6 grand etc... I plan on transplanting in some newer 'guts' and maybe changing it to read to 6 grand for a nice large swing of the dial. I'll stick with the same SW logo, numbers/formate and color in a 6000 rpm face... I alway enjoyed seeing the needle really sweep hard when you go thru the gears. I figure a 6000 rpm sweep in 270 degrees.... That needles gonna bounce into second gear, but so are the rear tires
