Bob Huebner, was fun to watch, driving the Twister ll, Id stand in turn 3 at Manzy, and he would come into the cornor backwards, standing on it full lock right....looking right, and heading for turn 4...sideways..Frank was smooth and good...Last time I saw Benton, he was "napping" on the side nerf bars of his Loyd Meek sprinter. I think Dick Morgan raced out of tucson in a yellow #22 Modifyed type top and tail, sprinter

What do you call a midget after you put a clutch in it?

Makes sense for the vintage guys as it mainly just a fun deal. I mean, it aint like their out to win Belleville or the Chilli Bowl.

When USAC made us use starters in the Midgets even though it was kind of expensive I actually liked them, made it easy to fire the car up at home by yourself, also I used the clutch a couple times at the Speedrome to avoid killing the engine when guys wrecked in front of me

Anyone heard of "Lite Craft?" A fellow from Indiana/Ohio area that built his own fuel injectors off of a Hilborn manifold.

I traded for one about 6 months ago and finally got it all back together so that it works. I was told it was the only one he made. He patented the idea.

Each bore is 2 3/16. Has 16 butterflys, two for each cylinder.

Anyone remember seeing it run? Anyone have a pictures of it at the track?

The before and after shots are below.

:eek: I guess it would be safe to say he didn't subscribe to the K.I.S.S. theory. Neat piece though.

On Clyde #2, I was looking at Wallen's 60's book.

When McCluskey drove Gordon Van Leewen's Vita fresh car, the dirt champ car had Clyde lettered on the side. So Hommeyer's car would be #2.

Homeyer had the name "Casper" on his dirt car in 1961, Al Keller's ride.

The significance of any of the names escapes me however.

Joe, is that a progressive setup, ie half the butterflies linked direct, the other half staged, maybe for 'better' throttle control?

Never seen or heard of one like it, looks neat though.:D

As far as the clutch goes I wanted to put one in so it would be real easy to start and drive around at vintage shows by my self. I am not restoring or copying a specific car, more of a stereo type of all the elements from the 60's era open wheel that I like. Plus I want to be able to just jump in and drive it around the neighborhood.

Nope... its all go. All of the throttle shafts flip at the same time.

If anything, its a neat conversation piece. Who needs coffee table books?

I would be willing to bet it was made to circumvent rules that state "max. 2-3/16" butterfly", but not how many you were allowed to have...maybe in the early days of 305/360 sprint cars.

    Hi Ned,
You are right about the #9 photos. That is the championship winning car in 1965. In prior years, it was the red Competition Eng. car that Foyt and Marshman drove.

Exactly as I was told. But who built it? I figured if anyone had a picture of the intake on the track, you guys would have it.
