Another really neat tow-truck. Specially like the cab roof, the curving rails matching the sides of the bed......everything actually.

Louis Tomei at IMS in 1938. The sponsor's name caught my eye as I didn't know they went back to the 1930's. In the middle 1970s there was a P.O.B Sealant sprint car that had been built by Ronnie Ward (Rodger's brother). The car ran throughout the Midwest and in USAC being driven by both Roger Rager and Clark Templeman among others. The last I heard the sprint car had been completely restored and was in a Minnesota collection.

Also, if you look in the background of this photo you will see a "Beer...Lunch" sign. This was Tom Beal's lunch stand that was adjacent to the Gasoline Alley and served the racing fraternity. Beal reportedly allowed rookies and other down on their luck drivers to run a tab all month long that would be paid when they qualified for the 500. And there was a gentleman's agreement that whoever won that year's 500 paid off the outstanding balances for the drivers that didn't make any money that month. This practice started sometime in the 1920s and ran up until WWII. There were a couple of 1930s Hollywood movies that were filmed at Beal's stand with both actual drivers and the actors playing drivers talking to both themselves and Tom.
