Chicago resident Lyman Voelpel commissioned the Hill Auto Body & Metal Co., of Cincinnati Ohio Voelpl-Stream-Lined-1932-Ford-1-1.jpg to construct his 1932 "Arrow Plane." Built on a 1932 Ford model B chassis with a 4-cylinder turned around and mounted in the rear. The engine was equipped with a Miller OHV conversion head & Winfield carburetors. The ford transmission, driveshaft and tourqe tube transfered power to a Ford rear axle mounted in the front, turned around and converted to steer.

  18. Yeah I know it's an ad . It just reminds me of growing up in the 50's. I was little, born in 53, but I do rember. We had a 49 Chevy, lots of 40's and even 30's cars still putting around Oregon. My Grandfather ran a Chevron Station in Scappoose, lived in a big ol' house, had tourist cabins Had a "new" 50 Plymouth we inherited later..Lots of homes built and furnishing from that time, theirs was just that. Even had the big Cathedral Radio
Dim yet important memories for me. Before we could afford a house we lived in a triplex. Other residents included Max & Rose. both had tattoo's of Buchenwald, they survived the Holocaust. Founded Rose's Deli in Portland. The war was very fresh in peoples minds, G.I.s starting to raise families. My folks were young, we moved to a brand new house in 1957. Huge yard, farm in back of us, airport across the street! Lots of open land, little traffic. No big box stores, literal mom & pop stores.
Propeller planes, fuzzy B&W TV, AM radio, Mohair upholstery. A very different time. That generation is almost totally gone, my generation has gotten old fast. America was very different then.
