I was wrong, this is a Type 32 Bugatti from 1923 with a Type 30 straight eight engine. A Google search will turn up lots on current photos of restored cars. Bob
Yes that's what they did. Also on the front door of the car is a decal which suggests it was a Hertz rent a car at the time!...
God I'm glad someone asked, I thought I should know but didn't, the wrap around of the fenders to the tailpan threw me off.
I submit 34 Hudson.?
Elwood and Jake?
Hmmm, gas filler on the wrong side? Not sure that's it.
You couldn't drive this thing if you had legs. Man that cockpit is tight

Terraplane taillight glass is pretty obvious...
I sense fakey shmakey....
If you examine the license plate in the color shot, it looks like it’s been pounded straight(ish). And the imperfections in the straightened plate sort of match where the plate was bent in the wreck shot. Maybe, just maybe, the color shot was taken later.
That’s what I believe and I’m stickin’ with it.

A vintage shot from days gone by from my own family album. My dad and my brother in the "new to us" 52 Mercury. Dad bought the car in October of 59 but I'd guess this photo more like 1960 or 61.
