Darlene (Balmer) Gordon and Ruthie (Deppe) Sellnow in 1950, Sitting atop a 1947 Chevrolet .

More Wayne Miller pics. This was a special event held at the Portland Speedway ( big 1/2 mile paved oval) on the front straight, during intermission of the oval racing. The local boys brought their hot rods and did a little drag racing, to promote the Sunday Drags at the nearby Scappoose Airport, around 1955. Clair Heaton with the channeled 33 coupe won his race, and Wayne Miller won his, besting the Cad flathead powered roadster. Note the movie screen, and the pads for the speakers in the infield.
YEP!----That's early Pomona with the citrus wherehouse in background.
This almost looks like the donor chassis /front clip on the coachbuilt car I asked about yesterday [post number 165390]
The front bumper and fenders look the same
My neighbor kid had a Vespa scooter, when there were three of us that wanted to go some where the guy riding bitch on the scooter would grab the hand of the unlucky kid on a bike and away we would go. I had shit in my neck a few time when the bike would go into a high speed wobble! We had a ball and never even though of helmets , knee pads, body armor etc, in those days. How did we survive?
