If this is a St Helens, it's St Helens in England.

I love this shot!
Those old Willy's gassers have a stance that remind me of a Sprinter crouching on a starting block [ready to leap out of the gate, when they hear the starter pistol]
The "41 caddy" plate is photoshopped into a vintage image, stands out like a sore tuumb to me.
I like that image, minus the cig and I'm there!
The onset of the fart cannon!
The photo is from 1960.The Willys was Don Clarkson and Wayne Christensen called the Windjammer..Jack Underwood worked with them on the car. I talked with Jack this morning about the car. The photo was taken at Santa Fe Service in Compton.
The rear engine was a rope start military surplus for a water pump on ships. It ran the 671 blower which was tubed to the injected Chrysler 354 under the hood. The rear engine was started first and set to full throttle before the Chrysler was started. There was a type of waste gate so as the throttle on the injectors were open all the air from the blower went into the engine, it set a record at Lyons first time out.
The unit was being installed in a dragster when all the guys were getting married and the dragster sold and a flathead put in its place. Don is still with us living in Oregon.
Are you saying that is a vanity plate? It isn't. More likely this is a state that doesn't require front plates and the owner made a display plate for it. Could be a foreign country. I don't see a state name which would certainly be on a vanity plate. I don't see anything that would not make this an old photo.
