Hey Gary, I always enjoy your contributions here as most have a deeper meaning to someone out there than just a cool track or pits image. This one is very special to me as I haven't seen my Mom in about 7 years now. That's her in her new '56 Merc Montclair. I am just out of the photo below the dash, inside her blouse...(-;
As I recall this is in my Uncle's driveway outside the house he built a little ways from Palmdale, Ca.

This car looks fast sitting still. What make and year is it?

 

Burbank / Bob Hope Airport. Doesn't look too different today.

 

Does anyone know why the Feds outlawed those spot lights that mounted near the vent window's? (By the ladies hand above) Any information would be appreciated.

 

A good friend owns this car now and will restore it someday soon ... to basically this configuration.

 

Where were girls like this when I was riding kick start motorcycles in the 60's?

 

This was real drag racing, unpretensious and not purely sponsor driven.
Went to the "Big Show" once at Pomona many years ago just to say I did, I'm over that.
On the other hand if I could get a lifetime pass to 60/70's drag racing, I'm in.
