I used to drool over this every summer. It was still there up to 10 years ago.
Huge, and very impressive in person. It blew my 10 year old mind in '57.

  4. P.G. County, MD. Kinda rural in '52. It was home to the former Beltsville Speedway as well as the former Laurel Speedway, and the famed Dorsey Speedway was only a couple miles outside of the county. Now, It's one of the richest counties in the nation and congested as can be.

This image featured here belonged to a scrapbook assembled by Ernest (Ernie) Nicholas Arnone, a long-time resident of Renton, Washington, who participated in the construction of Grand Coulee Dam during the 1930s-1940s. Arnone was the son of Michael Arnone (born in Rovito, Italy) and Raffale Arnieri.
During the 1940s, Arnone became a serious golf competitor, among other things earning the title of Pierce County Champion of Champions.
Arnone's scrapbook--featured here--deals primarily with the construction of Grand Coulee Dam. However, it also includes images from San Francisco and the Suez Canal.
