My world-travelling uncle took this photo at the Vatican in the 1950's on one of his trips....parking was more informal back then apparently! 100_1311.JPG

I'd guess it's a De Soto Firesweep 1958 (except for the missing chrome lists). Anyway I know that the Finnish police had De Sotos and Plymouths in the late fifties and early sixties.

The hubcap is a dead ringer for the English Ford type from the early to mid 60s, but the car does not look like any of the English models that I can think of. I wondered about Taunus, but while I am not an expert, I can't see a Taunus like that either. The car looks a bit more "substantial" than any of the English Fords.

    Got me stumped.

  16. The car is a 1957 or 1958 DeSoto Diplomat (export).

  18. I was"laid off", guess I'm retired now. Nobody wants to hire a guy that's 63!

    Feel'n your pain Gary.
I can't even use the word retired because people assume that it means you are getting social security. Had cataract surgery the other day and while the surgeon was cutting into my eyeball he says "so what do you do", I said I'm retired.......kinda.
    Retired with no income.
