Your Uncle Arthur was an exceptional man. Be proud of your family history, the personal strength it took to storm a beach head like this is something I think is lacking in todays Armed Forces.

Yes, Japanese dive bomber, one of several types of attack aircraft that flew in the Pearl Harbor attack:

One story I heard about the B-17's arriving during the attack was that they were in fact unarmed as an earlier post noted. But when one of the waist gunners pointed his camera at an oncoming Zero, the Japanese pilot apparently thought it was a machine gun and diverted his attack...

You are of course correct. I don't know where my brain was, especially since I have owned a '41 Chrysler :)

I wonder what the suits were checking on that 39 Chevy. I dig the color.

What does that mean? Those look like nice city buildings and the people are well-dressed, could be ancestors of any of us here. Do you have some problem with the early 1900's?

Doc, I don't know if I can agree with your suggestion that today's armed forces lack the cajones to run head-on into a hail of gunfire. Different times.
Today's wars aren't fought between the formal armies of national combatants like happened in WW2, but far more often between a major national or international force and a small guerrilla force. The quality and availability of highly accurate and more destructive weapons developed since WW2 plus the value placed on the lives of highly trained soldiers by nations makes the use of such 19th century tactics obsolete, and thank God for that.
Today's armed forces deserve just as much respect as those of the past, no matter how old you are. How about showing them some too.

I think so Bob, isn't the gas filler on the left driver's side on a '40?
